Cadherin 22 is predominantly and widely expressed across several regions of the human CNS, according to available transcriptomic data. This pattern is not different in the mouse, where moderate-intensity neuronal somatic (cytoplasm+nucleus) immunostaining is noticed throughout the entire brain. This is more pronounced (moderate-strong) in the mitral cells and in the granular layer of the olfactory bulb, the neocortex layer IV, thalamic and hypothalamic paraventricular nuclei, ventral hippocampus and cerebellar Purkinje-cells.
