AQP4 is the most prevalent aquaporin channel in the CNS with a most common localisation in the astrocytic end-feet. Its RNA is highly and widely expressed across many regions of the human and mouse brain. Moreover, strong intensity and widespread immunolabelling of astrocyte end-feet is noticed throughout the entire mouse brain with this pattern depicting the vasculature (capillary walls) as well.
