GAP43 is a gene almost exclusively expressed in the CNS (seen across numerous regions of the human brain) and an important component of the axon terminals. Similarly, in the mouse brain, it is well abundant with immunoreactivity being observed as synaptic pattern mostly in most parts of the brain, while some soma staining is also evident in midbrain.
